Backyard Bliss

I love just sitting in our backyard on a nice day.
The dog loves running around like a fool on a nice day.
And Madelyn, well, she loves just about anything outside on a nice day-
Today she enjoyed the sprinkler.

Big girl bike riding

Nana and Papa got Madelyn a big girl bike for her birthday.
She is loving it!
We are going to try without training wheels soon just to see how she does since she was previously riding a balance bike.

Birth Day!

 What a day!
Madelyn had the decision to go to school or stay home for your birthday-
She chose school, imagine that.
The day was filled with everything you wanted to do which included school- sprinkle sugar cookies to share, Tom and Chee for dinner, gifts and of course cake!

Madelyn loves a good grilled cheese!

Mary Popping!  Her favorite movie.

At school talking to her teacher- getting a birthday hat and her picture taken.

 Painting at school.

Pancakes for breakfast.

Snack at school- sugar cookies!

4

Madelyn,
You may not understand the concept of turning 4, but it is official. You are 4 years old. You woke up this morning ready to take on the day being 4. You stood in front of your growth chart and said, "but it still says I'm free (three)". I snickered to myself and explained as best as I could about what being four means.
4 years old. No longer momma's little baby. You are a big girl now. You are sure to correct me if I forget. You are so bright and brave.
Beautiful inside and out.
Everybody is your friend.
Even the boy down the street who we don't even know his name and you've never spoken to.
You are still so very timid.
It is like pulling teeth trying to get you to say thank you when a stranger is kind to you.
You love to show us how big you are with how high you can jump, how fast you can run, how much you can climb... etc...
I am so happy to be able to call you mind and that I get to spend all my days with you!

Gymnastics Birthday Party

 What an unbelievable party!
We couldn't ask for better friends or family.
Madelyn LOVES gymnastics, so this was the perfect patsy setting for her.

After the party- popping her balloon filled with money... well, daddy popping her balloon filled with money.  She was too chicken.

A car rug to help with her obsession with cars!

Happy to almost be four!

1st Day of Pre-K

 Ahhhh!
I can't believe Pre-K.
We debated this decision over and over.
Being a stay at home mom I in no way needed to send her to Pre-K.
I would keep her all to myself all day every day if I could,
But I remember how much fun I had at school and I want her to have that same experience.
I hope she makes some great friends, loves her teachers and
enjoys school as much as I did when I was little.

When I was holding her little hand walking down the hallway to her classroom this I the conversation we had:
Madelyn: Mommy, I think I'm a little bit scared.
Me: I know, baby, but you will have so much fun (as I choke back the tears so she doesn't see me crying)
And that was it.  I couldn't say much more in fear of crying in front of her.
And she didn't need to say anything more.
I kissed her and told her how much I loved her and that I would see her in just a couple of hours.
She gave me a great big hug and waved goodbye as she proceeded to follow the teachers directions.
Then I walked away crying.
Go figure.

A hiking we will go...

A beautiful day for a hike.
I Would love to spend every day like this.
Madelyn is so very athletic and loves adventures in the woods.
From mud puddles to climbing trees.
Just don't let the bugs crawl too close- those tend to scare her off a bit.

Meeting the Teacher

 Okay. Breathe.
Not even the first day of school and I am a ball of nerves.
Me. Not Madelyn.
She's a little ball of nerves.
She was so excited to meet her teacher though.
She loves walking down the hall and looking at all the painted pictures.
The school itself is as cute as it can be.
My biggest hope is that she loves and enjoys school.
