My family- we're all pretty close. I consider myself lucky. We all actually enjoy each others company. I know. Crazy- Right?! We actually looking forward to weekends when we can get together for dinner, a hike, a birthday, or a holiday. Sometimes it is difficult to get EVERYBODY together at one time, but we still manage.
My sister had a baby boy 7 weeks before little Madi was born. We have continued to talk about how much eating out we have been doing or not so healthy eating.
I work all day- go pick up my little angel- head home- feed her- snuggle her- when does making dinner fit in?!? Exactly. It doesn't. After being at work all day the last thing I want to do is walk away from baby girl to go make dinner. So, it's either Matt comes home to make dinner or he picks something up on the way home. Not fair to him either, I know.
New Year...New Ideas...
I think so!
We have decided as a family that everyone will make one thing over the weekend to share. This past weekend I made Toasted Ravioli. I made enough to package up 4 containers- one for my parents, one for my older sister's family, one for my younger sister and her husband, and one for us. Each of us did this so it gave us 4 different meals for the week. That is 4 days of the week that we don't have to cook a thing! Just pop it in the oven or on the stovetop to warm up.
We each did one meal this past weekend to see how it goes. If it goes well, then we will probably make 2 meals for everybody the next weekend. Then we only have to worry about swapping meals every other weekend.
I have always thought about making a bunch of meals over the weekend to have ready for the week, but I think this makes it a little easier. Instead of making a bunch of different meals - I focus on one or two meals and just make a huge heaping mess of it to share. :)
I look forward to seeing how well this new plan works!
I also started a blog to help keep up with all of my good recipes...
