Here's to Little Triumphs!

So, I've been working really hard at trying to get Madi girl to enjoy sleeping flat on her back. Ok- maybe not 'really' hard- but at least trying. For the first two weeks or so that we brought Madelyn home from the hospital she slept in the bed with me. It worked so well- I had just had a c-section and was not going anywhere so I was not worried about rolling over on her or anything like that.
She was a good little sleeper.

Only woke up a few times a night to be fed and would go right back to sleep. She is a little bit of a schedule baby when it comes to night time. Around 8pm is her bedtime- her choice- not mine. Around that time she gets cranky-so we go upstairs in my bedroom in the pitch dark to lay down and I feed her.
Out like a light every time.

She wakes up pretty much ever night between 2 and 3 to be fed and goes right back to sleep.
Then, she is up for the day between 7 and 8 am.

After sleeping in the bed with me for the first couple weeks- when I was more mobile and able to get in and out of our big bed easier- she began to sleep in her Rock n' Play Sleeper right by my bed.

This bed is the BEST! It is smaller and more snug than a pack n' play. It is inclined so she could feel more squished up like she was in my tummy. She has been sleeping in this up until just recently.

Recently, I have been wanting to get her used to sleeping flat on her back so eventually transitioning to her crib would come easy. Well, this task has not come easy. For the past couple of weekends I have tried to lay her down in her Pack n Play instead of the Rock n Play Sleeper and she immediately wakes up screaming. After several attempts I would just give up because she sleeps just fine in her sleeper.

Well, about a week ago- Madi girl came down with a rash. It ended up being just Eczema- but she was cranky and not sleeping well at all. No surprise there- if you saw it you would know that it had to have been irritating her. Poor baby.

So, for the past week or so Madi girl has been sleeping with me. That is all she has wanted. Don't dare try to put her in the Pack n Play or the Rock n Play or anywhere else for that matter.
In my arms right by me was the only place.

Well, we have been to the doctor and the rash is looking so much better so last night I pulled the Pack n' Play up to my side of the bed- knowing good and well I'd be mad later that I even tried and would just be pushing it away later.

After about 10 minutes of crying and me comforting her- After about 100 leg kicks in this big old bed (the Pack n Play is huge compared to the rock n play)- After 1 full circle from all of those leg kicks
After finding a string of Velcro on the bed to play with- Madelyn finally fell asleep and slept really well!

After feeding her around 5 she fell back asleep and I put her back in the bed. And it worked!
She kicked a few times and whimpered for a minute then was out.

So, here's to little triumphs...victories...successes....whatever you want to call!
No matter how big or small- they all seem like a huge milestone in your little one's life.  :)
