Must Haves

If only you could have a trial run of being a mom
to see what it is you really need and don't need.

I thought Matt and I were doing really well with getting
(mostly) things we thought we needed with the bebe.

If I could go back and do it all again we could save a TON of money!

Yes, she has an adorable room that we love.
Yes, she has many things to keep her occupied.
Yes, we tried our best to listen to others advice.
Yes, we did a lot of research.

But, honestly, you don't know what YOU'RE gonna need until it happens to you.
Everyone is different, so I'm sure others would disagree with me on some and agree on others,
but here is my list of our 'Magical Must Haves' in no particular order:

Must haves:
1.  Fisher-Price Rock n Play Sleeper: We used this for many, many months with Madelyn.  She slept in it soundly because she was not lying flat on her back, it is slightly elevated.  If she fussed I would lean over and rock it a little.  It is very portable so we would take it downstairs, upstairs, on trips, to grandparents house, etc... I highly recommend this to anyone!
2.  Pack n Play: Ours looked much like the one below with all the gadgets.  We honestly didn't use much of all the gadgets, we went straight to the generic pack n play sleeping stage after sleeping in the Fisher-Price Rock n Play Sleeper.  She is 12 months now and still sleeps in this at night.
3.  Caldesene Powder for Babies (blue bottle): Diaper rash, diaper rash, diaper rash.  No matter how often you change your little one's diaper, no matter how well you think you are doing on keeping it clean, dry, and moisturized- your little one will end up with diaper rash at some point.  Nothing did the trick like this stuff- not Desitin, not A&D...nothing!  We use this pretty much with every diaper change now.  We don't even buy anything else.  I have only been able to find this on hand at Walgreens, but the pharmacy can order some in for you.  It is not a prescription.  And you do need to be cautious because it is a powder.
4.  Diaper Caddy- We had the one pictured below- found it at Babies R Us.  We use it downstairs, and it stays downstairs.  All boxes and bags of diapers and wipes stay upstairs.  It keeps our living area from looking like such a mess.  This worked for us.  We kept all necessities in the little drawer- like fingernail clippers, nail filers, nasal spray, etc...  It also made it easier for Matt and I to communicate when trying to get settled in with Madelyn.  Instead of can you bring me this and that and the other, we often just said, can you bring me the diaper caddy?
5.  Humidifier- We bought the Crane Cool Mist Drop Shape Humidifier as pictured below.  Having a stuffy little one at night allows sleeping for no one.  Worked wonderfully.  Will be using it again this winter.  This is definitely a must for the winter months!
6.  Little Noses Sterile Saline Nasal Mist- As pictured below, we use this anytime she's stuffy or her nose is crusty- she is used to it and knows it helps her, so she is usually happy about it afterward.  You can go with any brand you like, I just particularly like how this jar sprays and seems to last us a while.

Everyone is different.  What worked/works for us may not work for you.
But these are a few items that just made our life a little bit easier.
Everybody can do with a little easy in their life.
