Her.

M, you are so terribly cute sometimes I don't know what to do with you.

You say wapst instead of wasp.

If you pee pee in your panties you say your
___ (whatever themed underwear you are wearing at the time) is sad.
flowers are sad, doggies are sad, stripes are sad...whatever undies they may be.

You ran from me for the first time the other day when you didn't want to do something
I wanted you to do.  If I moved this way, you moved that way.  If I moved that way, you moved this way.
I had to turn away from you because I was laughing out of frustration and hilariousness.
The sad thing is you knew I was laughing so you thought it was hilarious too.

You throw things when you are mad or frustrated.

You say you are grumpy like the puppet when you need a nap
(referring to the puppet from The Polar Express)

You say you need to blow your horn instead of blow your nose.

You say brebrunda instead of umbrella.

Smamich for sandwich.

You used to say grips for grapes, but you figured that one out and say it correctly now.

You say opapus for octopus.

When your feet fall asleep from sitting in one position too long
you say your feet are freezing.

Happy 4th of July!

Madelyn was not a big fan of fireworks, but loved the company!
She would watch as we plugged her ears.
(me, her daddy, nana or papa)

She would cuddle and nuzzle her head in my neck and say
'wet's go home'
or 'I want to go home'.

We stuck it out, but did not watch any other fireworks for the holiday weekend.
We did make it to the Marietta 4th of July Parade though.
We stayed for a bit...got too hot and left early.

We helped nana and papa get home from the fireworks because papa's motorcycle
had a flat tire and I ended up with Bronchitis,
so needless to say I think the 4th of July doesn't like us much.

Happy 4th!

Summer Picture Drop

Family gatherings, cousins, pool dates.
Friendships, the outdoors, long naps.
Swimming, playing, having fun.
This summer has been full of adventure so far!

Porcupines

So at Barnes and Noble today Madelyn finds a stuffed porcupine.
Of course she picks it up.
Then this... "this porcupines all soft. He's got no porks."
Much laughter followed.

The Hawk

We hear him every morning pretty much.
We see him several times a week.
Madelyn adores being able to find all types of wildlife around our home.
(mostly birds and bunnies)

Smile

Madelyn's very first, very clear person she drew.
An artist in the making?
Perhaps.

Pinatas and Tooting

One might wonder how these two relate to one another.
Well, let me tell you both were involved in a birthday party the other day.

Madelyn's cousins just had a pool party for their birthdays the other day
and we swam, ate, opened presents and all...or should I say most...of the kids
took some good ol' swats at the cute little owl pinatas.

Let's start with the gift opening -
All the kids are sitting so nicely watch L and L open their birthday gifts.
I'm sitting on one end writing down who gave what gift while Madelyn
is at the other end wanting to sit with all the kids and act like a big girl.
At one point I hear a toot...I mean, it wasn't loud, but it
definitely had a vibrating sound to it.  I kinda chuckled to myself and looked around at all
the kids to see who looked suspicious.
Well, when I got to Madelyn she looked over at me with a big smile and whispered/mouthed to me
'I tooted!'
All I could think was 'oh, great.  That was my kid'

Let's jump on over to the fun of whacking a pinata to make candy fall out.
Sounds fun, right?
Well, little timid M did not think this sounded fun at all.
I picked her up and she buried her face in my neck
and wouldn't watch all the kids take turns.
I was telling her it was okay.
That really you are supposed to hit the pinata until candy falls out.
That it really is fun.
Nope.
Not for her.
She finally would sit in my lap and watch, but did she want to take a turn at whacking the pinata?
No way.
And when candy fell she casually picked up one piece at a time
acting like what in the heck kind of game is this?!?

So, I guess we will forego the pinata idea for her birthday party this year.

Happy Birthday L and L.  We had a blast even if Madelyn
did not get a kick out of the pinata and tooted while you were opening gifts.
